Trofie Appoints Marty Garchar Operations Manager

Industry Veteran to Oversee Wholesaler and Distribution Segment

Trofie is pleased to announce the appointment of Marty Garchar to Operations Manager. Garchar, a 30-year veteran of the publishing industry, will manage compliance—monitoring all promotion programs—and will work in cooperation with wholesalers and distributors to manage the magazine and book categories for Trofie retailers.

“Trofie has enjoyed a long relationship with Marty Garchar,” said Trofie Managing Partner/CEO Christine Z. Crowley. “Marty’s experience and credibility within the publishing industry made him the right choice for Operations Manager at Trofie as we continue to expand our network of retailers and increase promotional opportunities with new and innovative marketing and advertising programs. Marty’s experience will help grow the category for our retail clients.”

Garchar has previously worked with major publishers such as Hearst Corporation and Time Inc., managing the national distributor relationships, and was most recently with The Clark Group, which provided those same services to over 30 titles. “As Trofie continues to grow, it’s important to have the systems in place that support that growth in a smooth, efficient way,” said Garchar. “My charge is to ensure that each title gets to where it’s supposed to go, when it’s supposed to be there, and that all promotions are tracked. We then evaluate the sales data and update our recommendations and programs on a real-time basis.”

Trofie plans to have Garchar begin in-person visits to retailers and to maintain a close follow-up on all aspects of Trofie’s programs. “We have to provide truly effective support and information for our clients,” said Garchar, “so we’ll be constantly refining our programs—aggregating sales data, tracking promotions and results and adjusting accordingly.”
